Milan, what a start! Away victory against Torino

Serie A opens for AC Milan with a victory. The away debut against Torino is the first step taken to redeem themselves from the disappointment of last season.

First Half

The first half is scarce in chances. The Rossoneri often attack through vertical passes, counter-attacks and runs in behind the opposition, but without a decisive finish. Torino, when possible, applies heavy pressing, but Milan’s defence looks compact overall. The only weaknesses come from individual mistakes, with Estupinian and De Winter standing out. The few chances of the first half belong to Milan: Cissé, Chukuweze and Ramos test the gloves of Mascardi.

Second Half

The second half follows the same pattern as the first: Milan relying on speed and runs in behind, Torino on physicality and pressing. Unfortunately, none of the 22 players on the pitch manage to find the net, also due to the lack of pressure inside the six-yard box.

Until 19-year-old Cissé capitalises on a pass from Rabiot, and with a scrappy but effective shot beats Mascardi. The young Frenchman then becomes the protagonist again just a few minutes later, doubling the lead and steering the match to the delight of the Rossoneri faithful. After a few more high-intensity minutes, in which Ramos in particular tries to score the third goal, Milan begins to manage the advantage.

Final Thoughts

Despite taking slightly more risks than expected, Amorim’s side make a convincing debut, taking home 3 points and a performance marked by proactivity and the desire to be protagonists.
