Player Ratings: Milan – Bologna 4-2
Starting XI
Maignan: 5.5. No major mistakes, but he does nothing to prevent the goals he concedes.
Tomori: 6. Fails to intervene for the 0-1, leaving Mbagula free to advance for Bologna. He redeems himself by recovering and setting up Cisse for the 2-1.
De Winter: 3. Fails to intervene for the 0-1. Looks uncertain, uncoordinated, inattentive and unreliable. Causes the free kick that leads to Bologna’s 2-2 and loses Mbagula for the 2-3. Whenever a ball comes into the box, he consistently fails to close down or get ahead of his man, inevitably leading to goals conceded.
Pavlovic: 5.5. Can’t keep up in pace duels when defending. Better when it comes to using his physicality.
Estupinan: 5.5. One of many caught napping for the 0-1. Makes a few good interceptions in the first half, before being substituted to jeers in the second.
Hutchinson: 6.5. Presses well for the 1-1, forcing Theate into an error. He also continues to show great dynamism in both recovery and forward runs throughout the match.
Musah: 4.5. Loses several balls during the game, most notably the one that leads to the 0-1. He is the embodiment of a midfield that struggles enormously in defensive terms.
Jashari: 5.5. One of the most active in driving and starting moves in the first half. Fades in the second and appears very nervy.
Bartesaghi: 4.5. Fails to reach the ball that becomes Bologna’s opener following Musah’s misplaced pass. Often gets forward in attack, but without being effective. To top it all off, he scores an own goal for the 2-3.
G. Ramos: 4.5. Doesn’t get into the box and doesn’t shoot. Even outside the area he loses the few balls he should be managing. Useless and harmful.
Cisse: 7. For Milan’s 2 goals he is in the right place at the right time, scoring a superb brace. As the game goes on, he increasingly fades from the action.
Substitutes
Modric: 5. Loses the ball that leads to Bologna’s 2-3. Offers no decisive play and looks disoriented.
Diawara: 5. Along with De Winter, he loses track of Mbangula for the 2-3.
Pulisic: 5.5. Has little time on the pitch, and despite his effort and running, only manages a close-range header.
Camarda: 5. Not only fails to make an impact, but loses the ball that leads to Bologna’s 2-4.
Comotto: n/a.
Manager
Manager Amorim: 4. Same as the goals conceded. An indecent performance that exposed both an unacceptable defence and an attack with serious limitations.
