In a team, every single element that makes it up should share a common and unique goal. A simple improvised hodgepodge of players, coaches and administrators cannot go on in the long run.
Can Milan be considered a real team right now? Probably not, because the defeat against Sassuolo was not so much a technical-tactical shipwreck, but rather one of attitude. Yesterday, the players looked like lost sheep, with no idea of where to go or what to do. There seemed to be no logic in their play, and not enough conviction in what they were doing to generate any strength in their legs.
Allegri at Breaking Point
It is clear that these players need guidance, and that one person alone cannot do everything. Allegri, as skilled as he is in his craft, is visibly beginning to suffer under these circumstances. It is unthinkable to see a manager who has won 9 league titles in 10 years break down in tears at the end of a match after losing 2-0 to a team that was in Serie B last season.
This happens because there is no solidarity behind him — not so much from the fans, who are free to experience this situation however they see fit, but from those directly above him in the club’s hierarchy. And without solidarity, there is no unity of purpose. So if there is genuine interest in this manager and these players, it’s time to show it through actions, not through carefully prepared interviews reiterating who’s in charge at Milan.
A Future at Risk
If, as I fear, there is no real interest in the future of this team, then, dear Rossoneri fans, we are doomed. Because this way, there is no moving forward.
