Nkunku to Fenerbahce? Latest from the market
The rossoneri market is experiencing frantic hours, with particular developments that deserve attention. At the forefront is Christopher Nkunku, the striker who has recently unlocked his scoring tally in Serie A. Despite his regained form, there are persistent voices from Turkey regarding a proposal from Fenerbahce to acquire him.
According to information from Turkish sources, the negotiation is underway, but the offer received from Milan does not meet the club’s expectations. The rossoneri management has set Nkunku’s price at around 35 million euros, an amount necessary to avoid a loss after investing 37.5 million plus bonuses last summer, with a total expenditure of about 42 million.
Transfer formulas and player’s feelings
Milan is considering two options: a definite sale that would allow them to cash in immediately, or a loan with an obligation to buy. However, Fenerbahce would be interested in proposing a loan with the right to buy, a formula that does not convince the rossoneri, as they risk finding Nkunku back in their squad six months from now.
Moreover, Nkunku himself seems to have reservations regarding the move to Turkey. After his double against Verona, his spirits are high, and the striker has expressed skepticism about the prospect of dropping further in level after having already left the Premier League. Faced with prestigious clubs like Real Madrid or Manchester City, the proposal from Fenerbahce represents a step backwards.
The Striker Curse and Maignan’s Renewal
Despite these uncertainties, if Milan decides to sell Nkunku, they would be obligated to reinvest the proceeds in a new striker. In recent years, the club has seen prominent players transit for a short time, like Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain, and Fernando Torres, highlighting a sort of “curse” for strikers donning the rossoneri shirt.
Turning to Mike Maignan, the rossonero goalkeeper is the subject of great attention from the club’s management. His renewal seems to be approaching, thanks to the pressure from Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare, who are trying to convince him of the importance of his role in the club. Maignan, described as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, is slowly ceding, and a new contact with his agent will take place in the coming days to restart the negotiation, which was already in advanced stages.
