Jashari on the market: four clubs knocking

Among the many open questions at AC Milan this turbulent summer, one concerns the future of Ardon Jashari . The young Swiss midfielder, signed during the transfer window managed by Igli Tare — who was subsequently dismissed along with the rest of the management — is now at the centre of a story that could take him away from Milanello before the new season even begins.

The reasons are twofold: on one hand, players acquired under the Tare regime are being viewed differently by the new leadership, which is scrutinising every item on the balance sheet. On the other, Jashari did not fully convince in his first season in Rossoneri colours — though there are significant mitigating factors that deserve to be acknowledged.

A difficult debut: injury and the Modrić factor

The young Swiss player’s first season at Milan was hampered from the outset by an injury that kept him sidelined for around four months. When he returned to fitness, the midfielder found himself up against a formidable obstacle: the presence of Luka Modrić, World Cup winner with Croatia and one of the finest midfielders in the recent history of European football.

In that context, expecting a young player in his first experience at a major Italian club to force his way into the starting eleven would have been asking too much. Jashari has class, he has quality, and Milan are well aware of this: the contract binding the player to the club still has plenty of years to run, a factor that carries weight in any technical and financial assessment of his position.

Who wants Jashari : the Serie A suitors

Despite the difficulties of his first year, the market around the Swiss player has already shown signs of life. Four clubs, all in Serie A, have expressed concrete interest:

  • Como, managed by Cesc Fàbregas, who will be competing in the Champions League next season — unlike Milan, who will be in the Europa League. A detail worth noting: Como would offer Jashari the biggest European stage.
  • Roma, now under Gian Piero Gasperini, a manager with a proven track record of developing young talent and building his game around dynamic midfielders.
  • Juventus, whose sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli — the architect of Napoli’s successful recruitment in recent years — has made enquiries about the player. Giuntoli had already been reported as interested in Jashari during his time at Napoli.
  • Atalanta, who have not stood idle and have contacted the midfielder’s agent, confirming the Bergamo club’s genuine interest.

AC Milan’s valuation: no deal below €30 million

Milan, while yet to reach a final decision, are well aware that selling Jashari at a knockdown price would be a strategic mistake. Taking into account the amortisation of the original transfer fee and the player’s wages, the minimum valuation stands at around €30 million — a figure that rules out any bargain deals and requires interested parties to come to the table with serious proposals.

It should be noted, however, that Milan face a practical constraint that cannot be overlooked: to participate in the Europa League next season, the club will need to register a squad of at least 25 players. Stripping the squad further without already having adequate replacements lined up would carry a real risk. Any sale of Jashari , therefore, must be evaluated as part of an overall transfer plan that Milan will need to put together quickly, as soon as the new management structure is in place.

The Swiss player’s future, in short, remains wide open: the talent is there, the suitors are there, and Milan have every reason to handle this situation carefully — whether they decide to keep him or let him go. The coming days will be decisive.
