Moreira Joins AC Milan: Contract Until 2031
It’s all done. Diego Moreira has put pen to paper on his contract with AC Milan, committing to the Rossoneri until 2031 in a five-year deal that marks the club’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window. The young Portuguese winger arrives from Strasbourg for a fee of around 50 million euros plus bonuses, with the operation also involving agent Jorge Mendes, who helped manage a significant portion of the deal — including commissions for the various parties involved.
The signing took place after a lengthy day at Casa Milan, with Moreira arriving accompanied by a large group of friends, intermediaries and family members. Shortly before the official formalities, the winger had a chance encounter with fellow squad member Strahinja Pavlović — a first handshake between teammates that signals the beginning of a long journey together in red and black.
The Number 22 Shirt: A Symbol of Greatness
One of Moreira’s first decisions as a Milan player was to take the number 22 shirt — the very same worn by Kaká, the Brazilian legend and 2007 Ballon d’Or winner who defined a golden era at the club. It’s a shirt that carries enormous symbolic weight, historically linked to one of the greatest players in Rossoneri history. While the number may not be the most typical for a winger, Moreira chose it without hesitation, showing he is unafraid of high expectations.
First Words: “This Is the Right Moment to Be Here”
After signing, Moreira spoke with genuine emotion and awareness:
“I’m excited and a little in disbelief, because when you talk about Milan, you’re talking about history, trophies and great champions. It’s a huge club — you know what’s expected of you — and I believe this is the right moment for me to be here.”
He also offered a glimpse into his personality:
“I’m someone who likes to joke around but is also very focused. On the pitch, I give everything for my teammates.”
Moreira’s Profile: Dynamic Winger with Big Potential
Diego Moreira is a Portuguese forward born in 2004, who came through the academies of Benfica and Barcelona before making a major impact at Strasbourg in Ligue 1. In Rúben Amorim‘s tactical setup, he is expected to be a key piece of the puzzle: versatile, explosive, and capable of operating as a wide attacker or advanced midfielder in the 3-4-2-1 system. As reported earlier, Milan moved swiftly to seal the deal, a clear sign of mutual ambition between club and player to get this project started immediately.
With Moreira’s arrival, Milan have now completed four summer signings alongside Gonçalo Ramos, Mario Gila and Diavara, building an increasingly strong and competitive squad for the 2025–2026 season.
