Jashari: Agent Confirms Atalanta Interest, but Milan Won’t Budge
The name of Ardon Jashari is back in the spotlight. The Swiss midfielder was signed by AC Milan for €35 million from Club Brugge after lengthy and complex negotiations. His agent has recently addressed the situation publicly, confirming what many had suspected: clubs are interested, most notably Atalanta, but Milan have no intention of letting him leave.
The Rossoneri’s stance is unambiguous: there are other players who should leave before Jashari. Milan’s squad currently stands at 33 players, well above the 25 allowed on the official registration list. It is clear that the priority departures concern other profiles — not a central midfielder in whom the club invested so heavily and who has yet to fully show what he can do in a Milan shirt.
A Difficult First Season: Injury Changed Everything
Jashari’s debut season at Milan was heavily disrupted by an injury sustained during pre-season training, which kept him out for several months and prevented him from integrating into the team’s tactical structure at the right time. He found himself behind his teammates in terms of fitness and match rhythm, and this affected his overall contributions.
Yet the talent is undeniable. His time at Club Brugge — where he operated in a two-man midfield, showcasing intensity and dynamism — suggests he can adapt well to the football Rúben Amorim wants to implement. The new Milan head coach relies on strong midfield quality, and Jashari could carve out a significant role if he can deliver consistent performances.
The Agent Responds to Transfer Speculation
When asked about a potential departure in the coming weeks, Jashari’s agent stated he had not personally discussed any transfer. It is worth noting, however, that a meeting between the player’s entourage and AC Milan’s board did take place around a month ago, during which interested clubs — including Atalanta — were mentioned.
The Bergamo club has built an outstanding European reputation in recent years, and their interest in Jashari is a testament to how highly he is regarded beyond Milan. Nevertheless, Milan are not willing to sell: the 2025/26 season will be the defining one for the Swiss midfielder, who must prove on the pitch that the club’s investment was justified. As widely reported, Milan need at least 8 departures before the window closes, but Jashari is not among those earmarked for sale.
