Milan look to the future: Andrej Kostic is the club’s first new signing
The Rossoneri’s transfer market is moving, and it does so with a signing that carries the scent of the future. AC Milan have completed a deal with Partizan Belgrade for young striker Andrej Kostic, born in 2007 and considered one of the most promising talents in Balkan football. The deal was confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano with his trademark «Here we go», and the player has already completed his medical at the club on Sunday 29 March.
Born in 2007, Kostic is no mere prospect on paper: this season he has scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for Partizan, who currently sit third in the Serbian Super Liga, with European experience also under his belt in the Europa League and Conference League. A technical and mental profile that is remarkable for a 19-year-old.
Three months of negotiations, closed on Milan’s terms
According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, talks had begun as early as December 2025, when sporting director Igli Tare had placed Kostic on his priority list. Partizan initially demanded over €10 million — a figure Milan considered too high, unwilling to exceed €5m plus bonuses.
Milan, however, never gave up. Talks continued quietly over several weeks, eventually reaching a final agreement: €3.5 million fixed fee to Partizan, plus bonuses and a sell-on clause. A measured, low-risk investment that reflects the Rossoneri’s transfer philosophy: identify talented youngsters before their market value skyrockets.
The player arrived in Milan on Saturday 28 March, completed his medical at the La Madonnina clinic the following morning, before returning to Belgrade to see out the season with Partizan. The transfer will be officially completed in June 2026.
Who is Andrej Kostic: Serbia’s new gem
In Serbia, Kostic is already being compared to Dusan Vlahovic: same position, same nationality, same consistency in front of goal. That comparison carries significant expectations, but also reflects the high regard in which Serbian media hold this young player.
It is no coincidence that Kostic’s agent is Darko Ristic, the same manager who represents Vlahovic and one of the most influential agents in Eastern European football. A detail that has not been lost on Milan supporters, who are already imagining future scenarios involving the Juventus striker.
For now, Milan’s plan is clear: Kostic will initially be integrated into Milan Futuro, the club’s reserve team competing in Serie C, which serves as a stepping stone for talented youngsters. The goal is to give him time and space to adapt to Italian football, grow steadily, and eventually work his way into the first-team picture.
A growth strategy that rewards vision
Milan are laying the foundations of a long-term winning project. Investing in a talent like Kostic for €3.5m today could mean having a player worth many times that figure in a few years’ time. A philosophy the club has already shown it knows how to apply successfully.
