Amorim Sets the Deadline: A Decisive Week for Milan’s Transfer Window
The assessment phase is over. Ruben Amorim announced at his press conference in Jakarta, on the eve of the friendly against Chelsea, that next week he will make his final decisions on which players will remain in the Rossoneri squad and which will be sold. With the summer transfer window closing in just over twenty days, the Portuguese manager can no longer afford to wait.
Milan’s current squad is large — perhaps too large. According to what has emerged, at least 6 to 8 players could leave the club before the window shuts. Some younger players have already been moved on in recent weeks — among them names such as Kostic, Ossola and Guernier — but now it is time to settle the situations of those players whose futures remain uncertain.

Amorim openly stated that the Chelsea match will be a key evaluation opportunity for certain members of the squad. In particular, the manager singled out Comotto and Diawara as players still to be assessed: «They will be observed in these matches, especially against Chelsea. Next week I will have to make decisions,» the Portuguese boss explained.
The situation is quite different for Francesco Camarda, on whom Amorim had already been crystal clear: the young Rossoneri striker will remain at Milan for the entire season, with no loan move on the table.
Gila Absent Against Chelsea
Mario Gila will not be part of the squad for the Chelsea game. The Spanish defender, still dealing with his injury, joined the pre-season tour mainly for marketing and sponsorship reasons, without ever setting foot on the pitch. As previously covered, the management of his injury remains an open question, and the hope is that he can recover fully ahead of the official start of the season.
Decisions Before Manchester United?
The timeline could be even tighter than expected. The first departures could be confirmed before Milan’s trip to Bratislava, where the Rossoneri will face Manchester United in the Champions League. It is not ruled out that some players may not travel with the squad for that game, or alternatively, that they are assessed in that match before being sold shortly after.
What is certain is that Amorim will report to the club’s management the list of players to keep and those to sell during the course of next week. This will be a pivotal step in giving the squad its definitive shape ahead of the competitive season.
The Technical Profile Amorim Is Looking For
During the press conference, the Rossoneri manager also outlined the type of player Milan needs to target in the market: «We need to improve with the ball and especially in one-on-one situations. If we want to press high, we need to be strong in individual duels.» A telling indication: Milan needs technically gifted players, capable of beating their man, particularly in attacking midfield areas and out wide, to create numerical superiority and sustain the high press that Amorim holds so dear.
