AC Milan set to collect over €100 million from player redemption clauses

AC Milan are building a significant transfer war chest thanks to buy-back clauses tied to players currently out on loan. If all deals go through, the Rossoneri’s coffers could swell by a combined figure exceeding €100 million — precious funds to reinvest in the summer transfer campaign.

Confirmed buy-backs: over €30 million already secured

Let’s start with the guaranteed income. The first payment involves Álex Jiménez, sold to Bournemouth: the young Spaniard reached 18 appearances of at least 45 minutes each, triggering the €20 million buy-back clause. However, 50% of the fee belongs to Real Madrid, leaving Milan with €10 million plus bonuses.

On top of that, Tommaso Pobega has been permanently signed by Bologna for €7 million, a deal already completed. Then there’s the Álvaro Morata chapter: his loan with an obligation to buy to Como is confirmed and will bring in a further €15 million. Adding these three operations together, the Rossoneri already have over €32 million guaranteed.

Lorenzo Colombo: buy-back tied to Genoa’s survival

Among the highly probable deals is the one involving Lorenzo Colombo, currently at Genoa. The Italian striker has already met the goals and appearances thresholds in the agreement, and only Genoa’s Serie A survival stands between Milan and the €10 million buy-back becoming effective.

Chukwueze at Fulham: the biggest buy-back worth €28 million

The highest-value operation concerns Samuel Chukwueze, on loan at Fulham. The Nigerian winger’s buy-back clause is set at €28 million, a sum the Cottagers are still deliberating over. Reports from the Premier League have been mixed: at times the deal seems certain, at others doubts surface. It’s a substantial amount and the final decision will also depend on the player’s wishes.

The trickiest buy-backs: Bennacer, Musah and Terracciano

Then there are considerably more complicated situations. Ismaël Bennacer, currently at Dinamo Zagreb, could bring in another €10 million, but the Croatian club is unsure about keeping the Algerian midfielder, primarily due to his hefty wage demands, and he is also dealing with a physical issue.

Equally difficult is the potential buy-back of Yunus Musah by Atalanta, set at €26 million. The American midfielder has been getting very little playing time, making it unlikely that the Bergamo side will exercise their option.

As for Warren Bondo, on loan at Cremonese, all signs point to a return to Milan at the end of the season without the buy-back being triggered.

Finally, Filippo Terracciano: his €4 million buy-back is conditional on Cremonese staying in Serie A. Should they secure survival, Milan will pocket that sum too.

A strong budget for the summer window

All told, the potential haul comfortably exceeds €100 million. Added to that will be revenues from the Champions League and European competitions — estimated between €60 and €70 million if Milan qualify — plus commercial and sponsorship income. The club is therefore assembling a robust financial platform to pursue an ambitious summer market, with the opportunity to significantly strengthen the squad at the disposal of head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
