Glasner is AC Milan’s number-one candidate
AC Milan is working to resolve the managerial situation and the name at the top of the list remains the same: Oliver Glasner. The Austrian coach, fresh from his spell at Crystal Palace in the Premier League, is the profile identified by the Rossoneri for the role of head coach next season. We are now on day seventeen since Allegri’s dismissal on May 25th, and the situation appears close to a decisive conclusion.
Contract details: two years with option on a third
According to available information, Glasner is expected to sign a two-year contract with an option for a third year — a structure very similar to the one signed by Massimiliano Allegri last summer. In the former coach’s case, the third year would have been triggered automatically only upon Champions League qualification, an objective that was not achieved: Allegri’s contract therefore remains valid until 2028, with the matter of a final settlement still pending.
For Glasner things are moving quickly: in recent hours there has been direct contact between the Austrian coach and a club representative who stayed in Europe specifically to follow these negotiations and finalise the remaining details.
Cardinale and Ibrahimović in the US, the transfer market waits
Meanwhile, Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimović have flown to the United States, also in connection with the World Cup. Ibrahimović’s presence at the tournament, widely documented on social media, has not gone unnoticed among Milan fans, who would prefer to see the club’s leadership fully focused on its future. It should be noted, however, that before departing, the Swede had already made calls and held meetings on behalf of Milan, demonstrating his commitment during the preparatory phase.
The name of Ralf Rangnick had remained in the background as a concrete alternative, but Glasner now seems to have clearly emerged as the preferred choice. The goal is to close the deal as soon as possible to allow the new coach to begin planning the pre-season and early transfer moves.
A new era on the horizon
Milan is therefore preparing to turn the page, fully aware that next season will be crucial in regaining top-level competitiveness, starting with the race for the Champions League. Glasner brings with him a wealth of international experience: his work at Crystal Palace demonstrated an ability to get the best out of players and build a solid, recognisable style of play. The Rossoneri faithful await the official announcement with confidence and enthusiasm.
