Camarda back on the pitch: rehabilitation in Milan completed
Good news for Francesco Camarda and the entire Rossoneri world. The young AC Milan striker, currently on loan at Lecce, has completed his long rehabilitation process following a right shoulder injury that kept him sidelined for approximately three and a half months. A significant setback for a player who had enormous expectations on his shoulders during this first Serie A adventure away from Milanello.
The Apulian club officially confirmed the young forward’s return with a press release, stating that Camarda will be fully available to head coach Eusebio Di Francesco from Tuesday 21 April. A long-awaited comeback, welcomed with enthusiasm both within the Lecce camp and by Rossoneri fans across Italy who have been following the development of their young talent with keen interest.
A tough but formative season
The current campaign has not been a straightforward one for the 2008-born striker — one of the most exciting prospects in Italian football. The shoulder injury halted his progress at a time when he was beginning to carve out his place in the team, robbing him of precious weeks of development and valuable minutes on the pitch. Three and a half months out is a long time for anyone, but even more so for a young player who needs consistent game time to grow and make his mark.
With his return to fitness, Camarda could still have the opportunity to feature in the closing rounds of the season. Approximately five matchdays remain in Serie A 2025/2026, and the aim is to get at least three or four appearances under his belt — enough to find his rhythm again and rediscover the feel of competitive football before his loan comes to an end.
What happens after Lecce? The future is wide open
At the end of the season, Camarda will return to Milanello, where AC Milan will assess — together with the manager and the board — the most appropriate path for his continued development. There are essentially two options on the table: a new loan deal in Serie A or at a top European club, or full integration into the first-team squad at Milanello in a more defined role.
Whatever the decision, Milan have every reason to invest in maximising the potential of a talent who has already earned call-ups to the Italian national team and who stands as one of the crown jewels of the club’s academy system. The road ahead is still long, but the foundations are rock solid: Camarda has talent, mentality and — no small thing at 18 — the ability to bounce back from adversity. The best is yet to come.
