The separation is not yet over: Allegri holds firm on his contract
Between Massimiliano Allegri and AC Milan, there is still no final closure. Despite the dismissal having come during the previous week — on a Monday that marked a total revolution in the club’s technical and management structure, with the simultaneous exits of Tare, Moncada and Furlani — the Tuscan coach has yet to sign his contract termination with the club.
The sticking point: money. Allegri won’t give an inch
The reason for the delay is straightforward: the severance package. Allegri believes he has been treated unjustly by the ownership and has no intention of leaving a single cent on the table. His position is unequivocal: he wants to be fully compensated — for himself and his staff — down to the last euro stipulated in his contract. A stance that has triggered a genuine stand-off with the club and with the RedBird fund, Milan’s owner.
As reported in recent days, Allegri is reportedly seeking around one million euros to formally sever ties with Milan and proceed with signing for his next destination — a figure the club does not appear willing to grant without resistance.
Napoli is waiting, but Milan must be closed first
In the meantime, Allegri’s future looks set: there is a broad agreement in principle with Napoli, owned by Aurelio De Laurentiis, who wants him as the new head coach. Negotiations with the Neapolitan club are advanced, but remain on hold until the bureaucratic situation with Milan is definitively resolved. Only once the contract termination is signed will Allegri be free to officially commit to the Campania club.
This is no minor detail: every day of delay is a day lost for Napoli in terms of pre-season preparation, transfer activity and squad building. Nor is it minor for Milan, which has every interest in closing this chapter quickly and turning the page for good, focusing entirely on its own future.
One chapter closing, another opening
Allegri’s time on the Rossoneri bench was a controversial one, marked by tensions with the ownership and results that fell short of expectations. Now Milan looks forward, towards the construction of a new cycle. The hope of the Rossoneri faithful is that this situation resolves itself quickly, allowing the club to focus with clarity on the challenges ahead: the new head coach, the summer transfer window and the next Serie A campaign.
