The Global AC Milan Fan Protest: From London to New York, the Rossoneri Cry Echoes Around the World

The voice of AC Milan supporters is no longer contained within Italian borders. The protest against owners RedBird and Gerry Cardinale has taken on a truly international dimension, with demonstrations organised in some of the world’s most iconic cities. A loud, clear signal: Rossoneri passion doesn’t fade — it organises itself and demands to be heard.

Under Big Ben: London Turns Red and Black

In the City of London, with the iconic Big Ben as a backdrop, a group of Milan supporters staged a protest demonstration. The message is the same one that has echoed for months in the terraces and on social media: «Free our Milan». The grievances are specific and detailed, touching the rawest nerves of the club’s current management:

  • The destruction of history, identity and passion at the heart of the Milan club;
  • The speculative exploitation of the brand at the expense of sporting values;
  • The disproportionate increase in ticket and season ticket prices, pushing loyal fans away from the stadium;
  • The undermining of organised supporter culture and the matchday atmosphere that has always defined San Siro;
  • The club’s evident mismanagement across sporting, technical and communication fronts.

Times Square: New York’s Bold Attempt and Denied Permits

Even more ambitious was the idea put forward by AC Milan Club New York: bringing the protest onto a giant screen at Times Square, in the heart of Manhattan, to give the demonstrations a global platform. The project, however, ran into strict American regulations: using advertising screens at that location requires specific permits and rigorous checks, which were not granted. The initiative has therefore been blocked, at least for now.

The Curva Announces a Live Protest

But the organised fan groups are not giving up. Through an official statement, the Curva has announced its intention to organise a live protest event, most likely during the summer. The exact location and format are yet to be confirmed, but the impact of an in-person demonstration — with banners, chants and the physical presence of Rossoneri fans — promises to be of a completely different magnitude compared to digital or remote actions.

AC Milan belongs to its fans, its history and its colours. That history — 19 Serie A titles, 7 Champions League trophies and generations of legendary players — deserves to be respected and preserved. The message coming from London, New York and the organised supporter groups is unmistakable: Rossoneri fans are not looking away.
