Player Ratings: Milan – Atalanta 3-2
Starting XI
Maignan: 6. He looks less sharp than usual coming off his line, though nothing too serious. He stays rooted to the spot for the 3-2 goal, but redeems himself shortly after with a save on Zappacosta.
Pavlovic: 6.5. Puts in a solid performance, often winning his battles in anticipation and helping to restart play.
De Winter: 5.5. An up-and-down display: a few notable interceptions, but also some errors that allow Atalanta’s players to drive towards the penalty area. His biggest mistake comes for the 3-2, where he loses track of Kristovic.
Gila: 7. Puts in a performance similar to Pavlovic’s, with a significant bonus — the 3-0 goal. The only downside is losing Kristovic for the 3-2.
Moreira: 6.5. Runs a lot, though he seems more willing to do so going forward than defensively. He delivers a perfect ball to Rabiot for the 2-0.
Musah: 6. Often makes sacrifices, even defensively, and wins back key balls including the one that led to Rabiot’s 2-0 goal.
Modric: 6.5. In the first half he looks genuinely distracted and detached from the game. Sometimes it’s simple build-up errors, other times he seems completely disconnected. He recovers with a perfect assist from a corner for Gila’s 3-0, and contributes some good defensive recoveries.
Chukwueze: 6. Often shows intent going forward and receives the ball frequently, but fails to deliver quality balls into the penalty area.
Pulisic: 5.5. Gets caught in possession repeatedly, looking like a sleepwalker on the pitch.
Rabiot: 7.5. Outstanding quality both in ball recovery and in offensive build-up. Even for his goal, that high-class quality shines through.
Gonzalo Ramos: 6.5. 1 penalty scored, 1 missed.
Substitutes
Hutchinson: 6. Bursts forward immediately after coming on, especially before the 3-0, then drops down the gears like the rest of the team. He shows up again towards the end of the match, leading lone counter-attacks.
Loftus-Cheek: n/a.
Estupinan: n/a.
Jashari: 5. Gets burned by Bellanova for the 3-2 goal.
Tomori: n/a.
Manager
Manager Amorim: 6.5. Winning with at times highly convincing football is certainly a point in Amorim’s favour. However, risking yet another comeback from the opposition is a sore note not to be underestimated.
