The Joint Training Session at Milanello: Milan vs Padova
Friday morning at Milanello sees competitive football back on the agenda. AC Milan take to the pitch for a behind-closed-doors friendly against Padova, in what is technically referred to as a joint training session. The choice was made by head coach Rúben Amorim himself, who decided to keep the test away from the public eye and cameras, in complete confidentiality.
The match will not be broadcast and there will be no way to follow it from the outside. It represents a tactical and physical work session designed to keep the fitness levels high for the players who remained available during the international break.
Who Takes the Field: The International Break ‘Survivors’
On the pitch will be the so-called survivors — those Milan players not called up by their respective national teams. Among the expected names are Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori. Completing the squad will be some youngsters from Milan Futuro, the club’s reserve side, creating an interesting blend of first-team players and emerging academy talents.
Amorim’s decision to integrate youth players into the first team’s work sessions is consistent with the Portuguese manager’s philosophy, demonstrated throughout his time at Sporting CP and later at Manchester United.
After the Friendly: 48 Hours Off to Recharge
Once the internal test concludes, Rúben Amorim will grant his players 48 hours off. The squad will then regroup at Milanello on Monday, beginning preparations for the next league fixture: the match against Sassuolo.
An important appointment for the Rossoneri, who after the international break will be eager to get back to picking up points in Serie A with the right energy and focus. The schedule promises a demanding month ahead, with matches every three days, making athletic management absolutely crucial in this phase of the season.
Post-Match Updates
Despite the private nature of the event, information on the scoresheet, goalscorers and overall performance will be sought after the final whistle. A small but valuable piece of the puzzle to better understand the players’ form and the tactical ideas Amorim intends to develop in the coming weeks.
