Leão situation edges closer to resolution: Galatasaray get serious

The final hours of the transfer window are shaping up to be explosive for AC Milan. The most delicate issue remains that of Rafael Leão: the operation has entered its decisive phase and every update could change the picture entirely. According to the latest information, Galatasaray are ready to significantly increase their offer in a bid to prise the Portuguese winger away from the Rossoneri.

The Turkish bid and the gap with Milan

The current situation is fairly clear: Leão has already reached a preliminary agreement with Galatasaray on personal terms worth around €12 million net per season. The main sticking point is the financial gap between the two clubs. Milan value their number ten at between €50 and €60 million, while the Turkish club’s first official offer stood at just €30 million plus €5 million in bonuses, totalling €35 million — a figure Milan deemed insufficient.

Now, however, Galatasaray appear willing to significantly close the gap. It remains unclear whether they will reach the €50 million threshold, but the intent to finalise the deal is there. With the transfer window closing imminently, even a deal struck at €45 million could represent a reasonable outcome for both parties.

Aston Villa and the Premier League: a door still open

In the background, the Premier League route remains alive. As widely reported, Aston Villa have emerged as a concrete option for Leão, with agent Jorge Mendes having made contact with the Birmingham club. Villa have shown interest, but the figures discussed so far fall short of Milan’s demands, and crucially no personal terms have been agreed with the player either. Leão has repeatedly stated his desire to test himself in the English top flight, which could prove a decisive factor should Aston Villa decide to raise their proposal for both club and player.

It is worth noting, however, that unlike the Turkish front, it is not the player’s direct entourage managing this negotiation but rather Mendes himself. This makes the Premier League scenario more uncertain compared to the Galatasaray one.

Leão training separately: the situation at Milan

On the internal front, the 1999-born winger has been training separately, in a physical condition that is not at its peak but without any serious injury concerns. His situation is clearly being shaped by the transfer saga. Following recent statements and the technical management by Rúben Amorim, who has kept him on the fringes of the group, it is apparent that the relationship between player and club has reached a point of no return. Keeping Leão under these circumstances would benefit neither the player nor the squad.

The ball is now in Galatasaray’s court: once the written offer with the official raise arrives, Milan will need to make a swift and final decision. Time is running out, and the next few hours could be the ones that determine the Portuguese star’s future once and for all.
