Always focused. No need for cover-worthy miracle saves, but his chest stop on Conceicao late in the first half sends a message of confidence to the whole backline. Commands the defence with his usual authority.

Solid, almost rugged. Engages in a physical battle with David and comes out on top more often than not. Also ventures forward with a cross-shot that frightens the Juventus defence.
GABBIA 6.5
The best of the back three. Never loses his bearings, gives David little to work with and closes down channels when Juve try to accelerate. His long ball opens the game.
PAVLOVIC 6
A rubber wall. Never backs down from a physical contest, blocks a dangerous Boga effort in the second half and keeps the competitive intensity high throughout.

SAELEMAEKERS 7 — BEST ON THE PITCH
The soul of Milan. Charges down the right relentlessly, gets Cambiaso booked and only the crossbar denies him a well-deserved goal. The only player who looks capable of breaking the deadlock.
Midfield

Lungs and muscles at the service of the team. Has the first real chance of the match but hits the side netting. Fades in the second half and Allegri brings him off for Ricci.

The “Professor” manages the tempo, but tonight Juve press hard and he is limited to a positional game. Goes off after an aerial clash with Locatelli that leaves him slightly dazed.

The returning former Juve man doesn’t flinch. Battles for every ball, wins a valuable free kick and tests Di Gregorio with a powerful left-footed strike. The last to give up, looking for Fullkrug right to the end.

BARTESAGHI 5 — THE WEAK LINK
Suffers badly against the lively Conceicao, who beats him repeatedly. Picks up a yellow card and Allegri leaves him in the dressing room at half-time to avoid further damage.
* ESTUPINAN (from 46′) 6: Comes on with the right attitude. More disciplined defensively than his young teammate, quickly clears a dangerous cross.
PULISIC 5.5
Largely anonymous. Kelly and Bremer shut him out completely and he never finds the spark between the lines. Replaced when Milan need more presence up front.
* FULLKRUG (from 62′) 6: Works hard, holds up play and tries to lift the team. Provides an aerial assist for Nkunku in stoppage time, but without luck.

Light and shade. When switched on he is unmarkable, such as when he sets up Saelemaekers for the crossbar, but he takes too many breaks. More is always expected from him — and tonight his moment of genius never came.

His Milan side is compact, hard to break down and well-organised, but struggles to create genuine danger. The Estupinan-for-Bartesaghi switch plugs an obvious gap, but the 0-0 at home is a result that suits Juventus far more than it suits him.
