The Rossoneri dressing room rallies behind Allegri
While outside Milanello the debate over the future of the Milan bench continues to rage among fans, pundits and the media, inside the dressing room the message is clear and unanimous: AC Milan stands united behind Massimiliano Allegri. The man chosen to deliver this message was Matteo Gabbia, central defender and one of the squad’s key figures, who spoke with sincerity and directness to express the group’s full support for their manager.
“Allegri is a class act — everyone in the group thinks so,” Gabbia stated. “The way he handles both the good and the bad moments is incredible. He has real experience and knows exactly which buttons to press.” These are words that leave no room for interpretation and paint a picture of an internal environment far more settled than certain behind-the-scenes reports would suggest.
“I speak on behalf of the whole group”
Gabbia went even further, taking it upon himself to speak on behalf of the entire dressing room: “This is the wish of the whole squad. It’s not just my personal view — we are all genuinely very happy with the manager and we hope he stays with us for a long time.“
The defender, born in 1999, also responded calmly to the controversy surrounding formations and alleged internal tensions: “I think all this business about formations has been a lot of outside noise. You always have to consider who is making these claims and why. We are 360% behind the manager. Whether he tells us to play 3-5-2, 4-3-3 or anything else, we do what he says and try to execute it as well as we can.“
Eyes on the pitch: Verona as a key test
Beyond the off-field dynamics, AC Milan are preparing for a match that could prove decisive for the season’s outcome. The Rossoneri, following defeats against Napoli and Udinese, face a seemingly straightforward fixture against Hellas Verona, bottom of the table — but one that cannot be taken lightly. Dropping points against the relegation-threatened side would seriously jeopardise the race for a Champions League place, the minimum and non-negotiable target for this campaign.
Gabbia also addressed the difficult spell the team is going through, with the composure of someone who understands the environment and the pressures that come with it: “Every season has its harder moments, when results don’t come as easily as before. You have to stay clear-headed, calm, and find that strength which only great champions have — trust in the daily work. I’m sure this will help us get through this difficult patch and get back to doing what we did for most of this season.“
Allegri: a guiding hand in the toughest moments
The Tuscan coach, at the helm of Milan during this second half of the season, has managed to maintain group cohesion despite the turbulence coming from the boardroom and beyond. Gabbia praised not only his tactical expertise but above all his human ability to manage pressure: “It’s up to us, the ones who go out on the pitch, to take on board his instructions and give our very best. We are very happy with him and his staff.“
In short, beyond all the transfer rumours and boardroom controversies, the Rossoneri dressing room is a single, united block, ready to give everything to end the season in the best possible way and secure that all-important Champions League spot. And with a group this cohesive, the chances of doing so remain very much alive.
