Joint training session at Milanello: the latest from the Rossoneri camp
Saturday morning saw the last training session of the week at Milanello, before a three-day break granted by coach Allegri. The squad is set to reconvene on Wednesday afternoon as preparations begin for the Easter Monday trip to face Napoli at the Maradona.
The coaching staff organized a joint training session between the first team and Milan Futuro: a roughly fifty-minute test split into two halves with mixed squads. With several internationals away on national team duty, the groups were shuffled, but the workout still proved valuable for tactical assessment and fitness evaluation.
Who was on the pitch: from Nkunku to Fofana, with Loftus-Cheek pushing for a call-up
Among the participants were Terracciano, Ruben Loftus-Cheek — now training regularly with the first team and on track for a call-up against Napoli — and Fikayo Tomori, who wore a protective jaw guard following the fracture he sustained in February during a collision with Parma goalkeeper Corvi. Christopher Nkunku, Youssouf Fofana, Niclas Füllkrug, and Samuele Ricci were also present, with the latter not called up by Italy for their international fixtures.
Santiago Gimenez: positive test, the Mexican eyes the World Cup
The most closely watched player of the day was undoubtedly Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican striker, who has been working tirelessly to make up for lost time after his earlier injury setback, took part in the full session and showed very encouraging signs.
The 2001-born center forward is building up precious minutes in his legs and, according to sources at Milanello, truly values the support from Allegri and the club throughout his recovery journey. Gimenez has a clear goal in mind beyond driving Milan’s push in the final stretch of the league season: the 2026 World Cup, set to be held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. For a Mexican player, competing in a home World Cup is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and Santiago is determined to arrive in peak condition.
The coaching staff’s approach is straightforward: gradually increase his match minutes to make him an ever-greater protagonist in the season’s closing stages. Today’s test yielded positive answers both physically and mentally. His progress is steady, and Milan can look ahead to the coming weeks with genuine optimism.
