A return filled with emotion and memories. Andriy Shevchenko returned to Milanello today, AC Milan’s headquarters where he wrote some of the most glorious pages in the Rossoneri’s history. The former Ukrainian superstar visited the training centre, meeting head coach Massimiliano Allegri, the coaching staff and some key members of the squad, including Croatian maestro Luka Modrić.
Shevchenko’s presence inevitably brought back memories of Milan’s great European years. The former Rossoneri number 7, 2004 Ballon d’Or winner and symbol of Milan’s golden era, greeted the players and closely followed the team’s training session, experiencing a deeply emotional moment as he revisited the place that had been his footballing home for years.
The emotion of the return
Shevchenko did not hide his emotion upon setting foot back at Milanello after several years.
“It was wonderful to be back here. I felt something in my stomach as soon as I walked in,” the former striker said, emphasising how his bond with the Rossoneri club has remained incredibly strong over time.
The former goalscorer also spoke about the atmosphere within the current Rossoneri squad, highlighting positive feelings:
“I see a happy Milan and that makes me feel good.”
Words that testify to Shevchenko’s deep attachment to the club that established him among the greatest centre-forwards in European football.
Meeting with Allegri and Modric
During the visit, the former superstar had the opportunity to speak with Massimiliano Allegri, currently in charge of the team, and with Luka Modrić, one of the most experienced players in the Rossoneri dressing room.
Shevchenko expressed his appreciation for the work of the Livorno-born coach and for the quality of the squad, underlining the importance of leadership and experience in a team that aims to remain among the protagonists.
From the pitch to padel
After his visit to Milanello, Shevchenko headed to the Padel Centre where he took part in an event linked to sporting activities organised in the city. It was on that occasion that he made some statements to the media present, once again speaking about Milan and the emotion he felt upon revisiting the Rossoneri environment.
A bond that will never break
Shevchenko’s return to Milanello was above all a symbolic moment. The former striker remains one of the most beloved figures in the club’s history: wearing the Rossoneri shirt, he scored hundreds of goals, won national and international trophies and left an indelible mark in the memory of the fans.
His visit brought back to Milanello, for a few hours, the memory of one of Milan’s most luminous eras, confirming once again that the bond between Shevchenko and the Rossoneri colours is destined to last forever.
